We recently put a new poll up asking men if they got depressed following surgery. So far only 19 men have responded but the results are interesting and worth sharing. 16% of men said they got severely depressed 21% of men said they were moderately depressed and withdrew from friends & family 26% felt sad for a period of time. 16% felt angry 21% said there was nothing to feel depressed or angry about. Here's how those feelings affected relationships: (At the time 225 men responded to this poll) 47% said they got closer after surgery-I think this is great news. 33% said it caused some problems-That's not a surprise 10% said it caused many problems-It's this group I believe should seek out professional help 3% said it ruined their relationship 7% said they broke up some time after surgery-Studies show the divorce rate among couples coping with prostate cancer is not higher than the general population, therefore it's likely most of these couples would have divorced without prostate cancer If you want to participate or view our polls please visit: Post-Surgery PollsIf you want to discuss your thoughts or feelings about these and other poll results, here's a thread to do that.
