Dr Mulhall in his book Saving Your Sex Life Dr Mulhall says that sexual stimulation results in the relaxation of the pelvic floor musculature. For men this means you may leak urine during foreplay and you may ejaculate several ounces of urine during climax. He says up to 90% of men will experience this at least once and 20% will experience this on a consistent basis for for 1-2 years.
No one ever told me that I'd experience urination during an orgasm. I found this a very distressing symptom. If you find yourself urinating as your orgasm you are not alone. If you are experiencing this issue, here's the place to discuss the things that can be done to minimize this romance killing symptom.

In this study 45% of the men who've had surgery experienced this symptom. I know this, I wasn't even informed this was a possibility.

Since no one spoke to me about this and I was too embarrassed to tell anyone, I dealt with this alone. At first the disgust and shame kept me from wanting to experience an orgasm. I had severe case and we went through a number of steps.
I share this with a high degree of embarrassment, but it something that needs to be shared.
Step 1-Full urination after orgasm- Here we needed to have towels in our bed so I could orgasm/urinate into a towel.
Step 2-I would go the bathroom right before an orgasm. The amount I'd urinate was greatly reduced.
Step 3-I would only leak small amounts- No need for a towel. Discovered if I gave up being in the top position and was lying on my back I'd orgasm without leaking.
For many men this symptom goes away after a period of time, for me it's something I'm dealing with 3 years post-surgery. I'm not happy about this symptom, but it no longer prevents me from enjoying my sexuality. The steps we've taken make this a very small problem.
If you or your partner have an aversion to urine, this will be a very difficult issue to live with, and could potentially end your sex life. I'd encourage you to find ways to reduce the amount of urine that leaks, and to speak with your Urologist about this difficulty.
This is a highly personal and potentially embarrassing issue to talk about and share, but I hope those who are experiencing this will be brave enough to share their experiences.
